Popești Leordeni
Hridaya Romania – Popești Leordeni
In the peaceful village of Sânpetru, near the Carpathian Mountains of the Transylvania Region, there is a place dedicated to Stillness, Self-Inquiry, and the awakening of the Heart.
Hridaya Romania (known locally as Kamala Center) has been sharing the Hridaya teachings since 2007. Surrounded by the beauty of the Dealul Lempeș (Lempes Hill) Nature Reserve, with its rare wildflowers and soaring birds, it’s a space that naturally supports contemplation and inner exploration.
We offer silent meditation retreats, Hridaya Hatha Yoga, teacher training courses, workshops, and daily yoga and meditation classes. You’re invited to rediscover the beauty of the Spiritual Heart and the quiet presence within. At Hridaya Romania, you’ll find a welcoming environment led by yoga teachers with more than 40 years of experience.
All are welcome to join us and experience the depth of yoga in a setting of simplicity, warmth, and openness.

Winter brings an average of -1 °C (30 °F) in December, and there are mountain resorts in the area for skiing and other winter sports.
If you come to our center a retreat or workshop, and you would also like to visit some of the inspiring places nearby, we recommend bringing the following:
- Clothes for yoga and meditation. We recommend breathable clothing made from natural fibers whenever possible. Depending on your preferences, t-shirts, tank tops, yoga pants, leggings, sweatpants, and shorts are all good options. Consider wearing a long-sleeve shirt or sweatshirt until you warm up. The most important thing is that you are comfortable and able to move freely.
- Yoga mat (although the school has mats available for use, it is more hygienic to bring your own)
- Sarong or mat towel (if you use one of our mats, we ask that you cover it with your sarong or towel)
- Meditation cushions (we have cushions available if you don’t have your own)
- Warm slippers for inside during winter; flip flops in summer.
- Clothing: Please be prepared with appropriate clothing for a region close to the mountains, rain gear included. In summer, you will want to bring lightweight clothing and a shawl or a sweater. Pack warm clothes, a hat, gloves, warm socks, insulated footwear, and a winter jacket for winter. It could be -15 ºC (5 ºF) during the winter (or even colder), so please be prepared.
- Refillable water bottle and a thermos for tea
- Toiletries/medications: Personal medicines and hygiene products (shampoo, tampons, etc)
- Notebook and pen/pencil
- Electrical adapter, if needed (plugs and sockets are generally two-pronged, non-polar; you must bring adapters if you use appliances with polar two-pronged or three-pronged plugs)
- Hiking or running shoes if you plan to do outdoor activities
- Cash for our on-site shop
- Travel alarm clock: If you’re joining a silent meditation retreat and don’t want to keep your phone in airplane mode, you may want to bring an alarm clock.
